Sustainability & Strategic Planning

Williams is committed to protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment on campus and to supporting the global effort to protect the climate and advance environmental sustainability. These efforts rely on the involvement of all members of the campus community. To succeed, initiatives must be not only environmentally responsible but also socially fair and financially sound.

The college’s greatest contribution to society and sustainability is through educating students so that they can be engaged citizens, change-makers, and thoughtful contributors to a more sustainable world. We do this through our teaching, research, and co-curricular offerings, and by implementing sustainable practices in campus operations.

We-the faculty, staff, and students of Williams-educate ourselves about issues related to sustainability and share our learning with the many communities we are part of. We, furthermore, work to contribute to the development of environmental standards and report on our progress to enhance a culture of accountability and transparency.
