Participate in Food Week events!

Dining Services is offering an all-campus dinner that will showcase local, organic, and humanely-raised food in honor of Food Day on October 24. Food Day is a nationwide annual celebration and movement for healthy, affordable, and sustainable food. At Williams, groups including the Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives, the Queer Student Union, and Real Food Williams have collaborated to present events including guest speakers, discussions, and film screenings in celebration of “Food Week” from October 19-16; view the complete calendar here.

Friday, October 19th

  • Williams After Dark: Make Your Own Herb Planter. Paresky Center, 7:00 p.m.

 We’ll provide the soil, seeds, and flower pots along with materials to decorate!

Saturday, October 20th

  • Visit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and volunteer. Meet at the circle in front of Chapin Hall, 8:15 a.m.
  • BBBBB! Paresky Steps, 8:00 a.m.

Enjoy a bike ride to the Blue Benn Diner in Bennington!

Sunday, October 21st

Tuesday, October 23rd

Bring some food to eat with friends and stay on for a Food Week Story time.

Wednesday, October 24th : National Food Day!

  • Vendor Fair. Paresky Center, 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
    Vendor fair at Paresky
    Suppliers to Williams Dining will present locally produced products on Wednesday during the Vendor Fair in Paresky Center.

Meet local vendors and farmers, visit the squash animal petting zoo created by students from Williamstown Elementary School, and learn more about national Food Day! Featuring: Ginsberg’s Foods, Quandt’s Food service Distributors, Black River Produce and allied producers, Peace Valley Farm, Vermont Bena Crafters, Gammelgården Creamery, Paradise Farms, and more.

  • All Campus Food Day Dinner. Towne Field House, 5:00 p.m.–7:30 pm

Williams Dining presents an all-campus dinner featuring local sustainable food. Guest-led discussion table topics including fermentation, nutrition and animal husbandry.

  • Eat the Invaders! Wege Auditorium, 4:00 p.m.
    Author and Biologist Joe Roman
    Joe Roman will speak on eating invasive species.

This presentation on eating invasive species in an effort to control them features a sushi demonstration and tasting. How do you make vegetarian sushi with invasive species? Learn from biologist and writer Joe Roman, and chef and environmental activist Bun Lai.
