Williamstown Farmers Market - Opens May 20th

This upcoming Saturday is Opening Day for the Williamstown Farmers Market.

This year, the market is expanding its produce and prepared food offerings with four new vendors for a total of 29 regular vendors. For a complete vendor listing visit http://www.williamstownfarmersmarket.org/

Among the new vendors, certified organic Mighty Food Farm will start the season with lettuces and salad mixes, kale, chard, radishes, sweet turnips, beets, and herb, veggie and flower seedlings. Members of Mighty Food’s CSA can now pick up their weekly shares at the market.

Mighty Food joins several other local farm vendors such as popular Peace Valley Farm, which has been providing healthy, tasty veggies since the market’s founding in 1981.

Cindy’s Cookin’ Greek, returning after a year off, is bringing her delicious Greek main courses, side dishes and desserts – including favorites spanakopita, moussaka and baklava.

Hay Berry Farm will debut with asparagus, rhubarb, dried flowers, and lavender – later adding shiitake mushrooms and eight varieties of blueberries.

Good Night Kitchen, a pastry chef arriving early June, brings muffins, scones, cookies, brownies, tarts/pies, and artisan chocolate bars, all made in a certified Williamstown home kitchen.

Co-chair Anne Hogeland said, “We’ve built a market offering bountiful produce, delicious home-made foods, and artisan crafts. This creates a lovely atmosphere for a relaxing Saturday, especially with our picnic tables and live music.

“A successful farmers’ market is a community endeavor. We come together each Saturday and delight in the abundance of our community. We meet new friends and see familiar faces. Great conversations abound.

“We hope everyone will stop by the Spring Street Parking Lot on Saturdays 9-1 to check out our market. And for folks who enjoyed Robin’s gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches last year, she’s adding a new breakfast version featuring East Mountain Farm’s sausages. Yum!”
