Energy Use, Building Area and Emissions Since 1991
Total campus energy use increased over 55% from fiscal year 1991 to Williams’ peak in fiscal year 2005. During the same time period, emissions increased nearly 50%.
One of the major drivers behind the increase in energy use and emissions was an increase in building space – building space which needs to be heated, cooled, ventilated, and lighted. Total campus square footage increased nearly 20% between fiscal year 1991 to fiscal year 2005.
