The Zilkha Center is helping to replace incandescent lights in the museum with LEDs, which better illuminate the spaces while saving energy. In the WCMA store, 60-watt halogen display lights were replaced with 14-watt dimmable LEDs. Light levels increased 16% while energy use dropped a whopping 77%. Additional LEDs in a corridor increased light levels 55%. The new lamps are not only brighter, but they will save about 3200 kWh a year, enough energy to run 9 desktop computers!
